This collection contains files from the LakeSuperiorStreams.org website that relate to or were produced by the University of Minnesota or its affiliates. Lake Superior Streams (also known as LakeSuperiorStreams) was a collaborative project between the Natural Resources Research Institute, Minnesota Sea Grant, University of Minnesota Duluth Facilities Management, University of Minnesota Extension Service, City of Duluth, Western Lake Superior Sanitary District, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, South St. Louis County Soil & Water Conservation District, Minnesota's Lake Superior Coastal Program, and other organizations.

The LakeSuperiorStreams.org website incorporated real-time water quality data from area streams, interpretive information, curricula, case studies, and a site design toolkit with the goal of educating contractors, consultants, developers, realtors, students, teachers, homeowners, agencies, and decision-makers about the environmental and economic links between our watershed activities, our streams and Lake Superior.

Lake Superior Streams began in 2002 as Duluth Streams, which had the same mission but a narrower focus, with funding from the Environmental Protection Agency. The focus broadened to include the larger Western Lake Superior Region and the name changed in 2005. An archived version of the LakeSuperiorStreams.org website, which provides a great deal of context for the files preserved in this collection, is available through the UMD web archive.
