Description:

Cap and Gown Day, traditionally the first day that graduating seniors would wear their academic regalia, included a convocation at which student scholarship, fellowship, prize, and award recipients were announced and newly elected members of honor societies such as Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, and others were introduced. All University students, not just graduating seniors, earning a B or higher grade point average were also recognized during the springtime convocation.
