The Minnesota Daily is the student newspaper of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The publication began on December 1, 1877 as Ariel, a monthly and later weekly literary paper. On May 1, 1900 the Ariel was reconstituted as The Minnesota Daily.
Additional campus publications produced by the Daily include The Literary Review (1934-1941), Random magazine (1969-1970), and the Northern Lit Quarterly. Ivory Tower, which began as a weekly literary feature of the Daily in 1952, ceased publication in 1969. The title was restarted under the auspices of the Department of English in 2006, and is known today as The Tower. In addition to print and online publications, the Daily also produces digital media content, including In the Know and The Weekly Rundown podcasts.
