Item Tucker Center Talks: S2E11 - Representation of Women in Sports Media(2020-06-18) LaVoi, Nicole M.; Antunovic, DunjaNicole talks to her new colleague and fellow college tennis player Dr. Dunja Antunovic, who will join her in the Tucker Center in the fall of 2020. Dunja is currently finishing out her stint in Sports Communication at the Charley Steiner School of Sports Communication at Bradley University. They discuss her areas of research around representation of women in sports media, women in sport journalism and Dunja’s new forthcoming book (with TC affiliated scholar Dr. Cheryl Cooky) which in part covers narratives of progress and failure for women’s sport. We end with three ‘sticky’ ideas from her research.Item Tucker Center Talks: S2E14 - Disruptions in Women's Sport(2020-08-13) LaVoi, Nicole M.; Pegoraro, AnnOn this episode, Nicole talks to Dr. Ann Pegoraro, the Lang Chair in Sport Management at the University of Guelph in Canada. Her research focuses mainly on sport consumers, marketing and communication, including all forms of media. Dr. Pegoraro is also the co-director of the newly formed Canadian national research network for gender equity in sport. They announce an initiative; #disruptHERS, a social media campaign in women’s sport. #disruptHERS will highlight why disruptions to the normative male model of sport matters, and they will discuss with each other and colleagues the most current issues of disruptions.
