Item Wild Ricing Moon(2011-08-16) Mooney, John DavidItem Police Intervention in Cases of Domestic Violence(2014) Schuefftan, Sara; Arthur, JohnThe researcher sought to investigate the problem of domestic violence cases and the relationship these cases have with police officers. Arrest rates, corresponding recidivism rates, as well as officer opinions on threat assessment, current policies, recidivism rates, and future polices were investigated. An open ended intervention orientated survey and a likert-style survey regarding threat assessment were distributed to the Cloquet, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin police agencies. Both agencies reported their most practiced intervention tactics (mandatory arrest followed by resource and domestic violence center referrals). There was a significant positive correlation between what officers look for at a scene of domestic violence and methods of intervention within the Superior agency. There was also a significant positive correlation between the effectiveness of threat assessment for predicting future criminality and the effectiveness of threat assessment impacting intervention methods within the Superior agency. These findings implicate that threat assessment has a relationship with the interventions that officers choose to use when they encounter suspected domestic violence. What officers see on the scene relates to the policies that are in place within their agency. The policies that are implemented often correspond to ways of predicting future criminality and using these responses to work towards reducing future crime.Item Organic Synthesis of a Small Novel Molecule to Target Prostate Cancer(2014) Just, Melissa J.; Mereddy, VenkatramItem Utilization of Hydrogen Gas Produced Through Sodium Borohydride(2014) Moen, Martin; Sternberg, StevenItem Music Culture in the Omaha Tribe of North America and the Saami of Northern Scandinavia: An Analysis of the Similarities and Possible Cultural Connections between Vuolle and Be-thae wa-an(2014) Wirtanen, Trevor; Rubin, Justin HenryWithin both the Saami of northern Scandinavian and the Native American tribe known as the Omaha, there exists a rich and complex musical culture. This essay analyzes the intricacies and aural similarities of the aforementioned cultures and strives to determine the causation of their distinct musical parallels specifically between the be-thae wa-an of the Omaha and the vuolle of the southern Saami.Item The Nest as Art(2014) Bennett, Jennifer; Murphy, Robin M.Item Incorporation of Duluth Complex Maps into GIS Platform(2014) Lentsch, Nathan; Miller, JamesItem About DJUR(2014)Item EnergyPlus Energy Simulation Software(2014) Gerber, Michael; Dave, Eshan V.Item DJUR Copyright Declaration(2014)Item DJUR 2014 Cover(2014)Item Mitochondrial Capacity in Brown Adipose Tissue of the 13-Lined Ground Squirrel(2014) Sieberg, Charles; Andrews, MatthewItem Phytoremediation: Effects of Timing on the Overall Health of Brassica Juncea(2014) Larson, Christopher E.; Sternberg, StevenItem Synthesis and Characterization of C60_aza_BODIPY(2014) Hoover, Brittany; Nemykin, ViktorItem Sieur du Lhut(2014) Lipchitz, JacquesItem Investigate Methods to Increase the Usefulness of Stereolithography 3D Printed Objects by Adding Carbon Nanotubes to Photo-Curable Resins(2014) Wagner, Karl S.; Enemuoh, EmmanuelThis paper aims to inform the reader about the aspects of compositing carbon nanotubes in photo curable resin that is commonly used in stereo lithography 3D printers. The focus is to increase the strength of the resin to allow for a greater range of objects to be printed with SLA printers. The paper will look at the different types of carbon nanotubes that can be used, what weight percent of nanotubes in resin will most likely work best in a printing environment based on surface hardness and cure time, and comparative destructive testing. It was shown with a small sample size that the carbon nanotubes composite had lower strength but greater toughness over pure neat resin.Item The Effect of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on Small Open Economics: Implications for the Korea - US (KORUS) FTA(2014) Lee, SungkookGiven that the KORUS / Korea-EU agreement has not been long put into effect and Korea-China agreement is not ratified, in order to extrapolate the effect of the KORUS FTA on Korea, the study explores simulation of economic effects of free trade agreements between Korea and advanced economies in the recent past. Combining results from previous research, the study draws economic effects and implications of KORUS FTA on Korea. In general, the Korean economy will achieve a quantitative economic expansion to a greater or lesser degree through KORUS FTA. We can find similar results on the research of KOREU and Korean-China FTA. FTA between a relative smaller open economy and a bigger market economy will give a driving force of economic growth on the functioning of the relatively small and open economies.Item The Contribution of Black Carbon to Bulk Lake Superior Sediment(2014) Rhoades, Brandon; Minor, Elizabeth C.Item Time Dependency of Heat-shocking oepm134 and Its Penetrance(2014) Ma, Phyo M.; Liang, Jennifer O.Item DJUR Editorial Board(2014)
