Item Cook County/Grand Portage Alternative Energy(University of Minnesota Duluth, 2005) Skurla, James A; Lichty, Richard W; Doorn, David J; Jacobson, Jean; Almquist-Minko, Vickie; Malik, Nitya; Williams, Joshua; Hochsprung, Paul; Daly, JohnEnergy sustainability must consider social, ecological and economic factors. This contract is to model the economic impacts to the current economy of the Grand Portage MN Tribal Community when the energy supply changes in response to implementing hydrogen based technology. This project will analyze possible impacts generated when the source of energy changes. Most input-output impact analyses assume that, when one industry in a defined region increases its production, the necessary supply of intermediate products needed in production will be available. This assumption implies that local resources are currently underutilized, or that excess capacity exists in the supplying industries.Item Duluth Farmers' Market Survey and Business Plan(University of Minnesota Duluth, 2006) Skurla, James A; Jacobson, Jean; Hochsprung, Paul; Malik, Nitya; Martopullo, Ela; Daly, John; Almquist-Minko, VickieItem The Economic Impact of Constructing and Operating An Integrated Gasification Combined-Cycle Power-Generation Facility on the Iron Range(University of Minnesota Duluth, 2005) Skurla, James A; Jacobson, Jean; Hochsprung, Paul; Doorn, David J; Daly, John; Almquist-Minko, VickieItem Economic Impacts of PolyMet's NorthMet Project and other Industrial Projects of Minnesota's East Range Communities(University of Minnesota Duluth, 2005) Skurla, James A; Jacobson, Jean; Doorn, David J; Lichty, Richard W; Hochsprung, Paul; Malik, Nitya; Daly, John; Almquist-Minko, VickieItem Grand Marais Harbor Expansion: Economic Impact, Three Scenarios(University of Minnesota Duluth, 2005) Skurla, James A; Jacobson, Jean; Malik, Nitya; Hochsprung, Paul; Daly, John; Almquist-Minko, VickieCommunity stakeholders in Grand Marais, MN have proposed an expansion to the recreational marina and harbor facilities, especially as used by tourists to Cook County. The University of Minnesota Duluth Labovitz School research bureau was requested to analyze the economics involved, and to estimate the impact of the proposed expansion. Tourism, as measured by the industry sectors hotel/motel, food and beverages, and attraction and amusement attendance, is a large part of the economic base of Cook County and Grand Marais, and impacts to these sectors from changes in marina facilities will be significant to the local and regional economy. The methodology of this impact study includes direct, indirect, and induced measures of employment, value added, and output impacts.Item North Shore Interpretive Centers' Economic Influence(University of Minnesota Duluth, 2006) Skurla, James A; Jacobson, Jean; Hochsprung, Paul; Malik, Nitya; Martopullo, Ela; Daly, John; Almquist-Minko, Vickie
