It began as a project to capture fugitive working papers, and has evolved into a major web archive for literature in the field. Many partners are involved in the endeavor, and it serves as a prototype for projects in other disciplines.Item Building a RefWorks Database of Faculty Publications as a Liaison and Collection Development Tool(2008-08-02) Marsalis, Scott; Kelly, Julia A.Using RefWorks, a web-based citation manager, we constructed databases containing the publications of the faculty members for four departments on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. The goals were to learn more about the research interests in the departments and to have a tool to help inform us when trying to make decisions about book purchases and journal cancellations. A few unexpected challenges were encountered and a number of unexpected benefits emerged.Item Old-growth Northern Hardwood Stands near Duluth, Minnesota(1986-06-01) Kelly, Julia A.This follow-up study of yellow birch (Betula alleghaniensis) regeneration in sugar maple-basswood forests in northern Minnesota covers 3 stands from a 1960-61 study that originally included 10. Generalizations and correlations were difficult to make since behavior varied greatly among individuals. Damage to trees in the area was noted. There was no visible evidence of harm done by porcupines to red pines which has been a problem in the late 1960's.
