covidLocalNewsCoverageCombinedForReplication.csv: Data collected from local newspapers.

covidNationalNewsCoverageCombinedForReplication: Data collected from national newspapers.

PoliticsOrPublicHealthAnalysisForReplication.R: R script to reproduce the descriptive statistics and statistical tests reported in the manuscript.

PoliticsOrPublicHealthCodebookReplication.pdf: Codebook describing the variables in the two datasets.

COVID Concern from Civiqs.csv: Three .csv files recording the estimated percentage of Democrats and Republicans who expressed various levels of concern about the pandemic on each date from February 25, 2020 until June 14, 2020, as well as the partisan gap in the percent expressing extreme or moderate concern. This data was manually transcribed by the author from https://civiqs.com/results/coronavirus_concern?annotations=true&uncertainty=true&zoomIn=true on April  6, 2023. Data from the concern gap csv was used in excel to create Figure 1. All data remain in copyright of Civiqs.
