"PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Leaf and root endophytes sampled from 3 species of grass (Elymus mollis, Ammophila arenaria, and Ammophila breviligulata) and 3 dune locations (front, crest, back) at 5 sites in the Oregon and Washington, USA in Aug-Sept 2011"	
"METHODS: 3 individuals of the 3 plant species (when present) were sampled for endophytes within each quadrat. Endophytes were cultured on 2% malt extract agar following plant surface sterilization with ethanol and bleach. For each plant, 10 segments were taken from the leaf and 10 from the root. DNA was extracted from cultures, and the ITS region was amplified with PCR and sequenced using Sanger sequencing. Sequences were clustered at 97% to delimit operational taxonomic units (OTUs)"
