Links to publications that cite or use the data: Many publications by researchers at the Horticultural Research Center have utilized the fruit breeding data. --------------------- DATA & FILE OVERVIEW --------------------- 1. File List A. Filename: Apple dead A-Z.pdf Description: Phenotype records for apple cultivars received as accessions that were culled for various reasons such as lack of winter hardiness or fire blight susceptibility. First entry is N4955. Last is N4568. Range from N3459 to N5866. -------------------------- METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION -------------------------- 1. Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: From one to four trees were usually grafted on unspecified rootstocks for each accession and planted at the Fruit Breeding Farm/Horticultural Research Center and observed for multiple years until they died or were discarded. Most of the observations in this file are from the 1940s through the 1960s. Refer to the Accessions file for more information on accessions that feature an accession number starting with N. The records in this collection are mainly for selections that were discarded from 1932-1970. 2. People involved with data collection: As stated above, since the data was collected over large periods of time, it is unclear who authored each page/dataset. Leadership at the Horticultural Research Center/Fruit Breeding Farm has been documented in a few publications, including: Snyder, Leon C. 1983.
