Relationship between files: Files refer to different time periods, and contain different species, as noted above. However, they are all part of the same collection. -------------------------- METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION -------------------------- 1. Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: Each cross made in a crop in a given year was recorded including the parents and sometimes number of seeds produced. The designation for a cross consists of the first and last letter of the common name of the crop followed by a number that includes the last two digits of the year and then the sequential number of the cross within that year, e.g. AE 5501 would be the first cross (01) made in 1955 (55) in the crop apple (AE). Grape is GE, strawberry is SY, raspberry is RY etc. 2. People involved with data collection: As stated above, since the data was collected over large periods of time, it is unclear who authored each page/dataset. Leadership at the Horticultural Research Center/Fruit Breeding Farm has been documented in a few publications, including: Snyder, Leon C. 1983. History of the Department of Horticultural Science and Landscape Architecture, 1849-1982. University of Minnesota.
