Freeware versions of software to extract the zipped files are readily available for almost any platform (pc, Unix, Mac,..) for download via the web. All covers and/or shapefiles are registered in UTM coordinates, zone 15N, NAD83 projection. Metadata for the GIS files is provided in the c-18meta folder as Microsoft Word documents. The published paper maps included in the geologic atlas can be viewed as pdf versions of the plates (see directory c-18_pdfs): p1_db.pdf = data-base map p2_bg.pdf = bedrock geology map p3_sg.pdf = surficial geology map p4_qstra.pdf = Quaternary stratigraphy map p5_bt_db.pdf = bedrock topography, depth to bedrock and sand distribution model maps p6_rscs.pdf = mineral endowment map C18.zip--Arcmap 9.2 mxd and shapefiles and Arc Grids, illustrating the geology of Todd County. The mxd will not run under older versions of Arcmap, but the shapefiles can be loaded into any other version. Pics.zip--A zip file containing photos and html explanatory links that provide a visual tour of surfical geologic features around Todd County. These are linked from within the ArcMap mxd, so in order for the link to work, the pics folder should be copied into the c18_cd folder. Otherwise, the html tour can be operated from within the pics folder by locating and opening the open1.htm file. Double clicking on the open1.htm file will automatically start the browser and enable navigation through the tour.
