Information about funding sources that supported the collection of the data: There was no funding for the meta-analysis itself. Our meta-analytic database is comprised of many primary studies, which were supported by many grants and funding sources. The "Acknowledgements for Data and Database Assistance" section of our 2023 open science book ("Of Anchors & Sails: Personality-ability trait constellations", DOI: https://doi.org/10.24926/9781946135988) is the best place to view all of these. 7. Overview of the data (abstract): This database consists of personality-ability correlations that were amassed for a set of meta-analyses. Contributing materials spanned journal articles, theses, personal communications, archival datasets, conference presentations, and others sources. Further details about how these data were curated, cleaned, and organized as well as results of the meta-analyses based on these data are presented in Of Anchors & Sails: Personality-ability trait constellations (2023). -------------------------- SHARING/ACCESS INFORMATION -------------------------- 1. If yes, list source(s): See Appendix K of our book ("Of Anchors & Sails: Personality-ability trait constellations", DOI: https://doi.org/10.24926/9781946135988) for references to each material that contributed to the meta-analytic database. 4. Two duplicate files in alternative formats are also included. -------------------------- METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION -------------------------- 1. Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: See Chapter 3 and Appendix E of our book ("Of Anchors & Sails: Personality-ability trait constellations", DOI: https://doi.org/10.24926/9781946135988). 2. Methods for processing the data: See Chapter 2 as well as Appendices E and F of our book ("Of Anchors & Sails: Personality-ability trait constellations", DOI: https://doi.org/10.24926/9781946135988). 3. Instrument- or software-specific information needed to interpret the data: Software that can open comma-separated variable files (e.g., Microsoft Excel). Interpretation of the data is facilitated by descriptions of each construct and scale, which can be found in Appendices A, B, C, and D of of our book ("Of Anchors & Sails: Personality-ability trait constellations", DOI: https://doi.org/10.24926/9781946135988). 4. Standards and calibration information, if appropriate: Measures were mapped to psychological constructs to harmonize across instruments and studies. This also meant that some correlations needed to be reversed from the original material. For example, if a primary study reported a correlation between memory and emotional stability, we reversed that correlation when including the effect in our meta-analysis between memory and neuroriticism. 5. Environmental/experimental conditions: None. 6. Describe any quality-assurance procedures performed on the data: A key to our quality-assurance strategy was double-entry of many studies into the meta-analytic database by multiple team members. We also had the opportunity to check hundreds of entries against previous meta-analytic databases on the same topic. For further details, see Appendix E of our book ("Of Anchors & Sails: Personality-ability trait constellations", DOI: https://doi.org/10.24926/9781946135988). 7. People involved with sample collection, processing, analysis and/or submission: We are grateful to the many contributors, including those who conducted the primary studies as well as our research team, who played a critical role in amassing the meta-analytic database. See the Acknowledgements for Data and Database Assistance chapter of our book for full details ("Of Anchors & Sails: Personality-ability trait constellations", DOI: https://doi.org/10.24926/9781946135988). ----------------------------------------- DATA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR: Stanek and Ones - Personality Traits and Cognitive Abilities Relations Database Legend 2023-09-11.xlsx ----------------------------------------- See filename: Stanek and Ones - Personality Traits and Cognitive Abilities Relations Database Legend 2023-09-11.xlsx
