Withdrawal Policy

Content submission in the University Digital Conservancy is permanent. Under certain circumstances an item in the Digital Conservancy may be removed from view. In order to retain the historical record, upon an item's removal one of the following statements will be inserted:

"Removed from view by legal order."
"Removed from view due to a violation of University Digital Conservancy policy."

Since any item in the University Digital Conservancy may have been cited, a 'tombstone' record will be supplied when an item is withdrawn. When a withdrawn item is requested, the original metadata along with one of the withdrawal statements will appear in place of the object. The metadata for withdrawn items will remain visible, but it will not be searchable or available for metadata harvesting.
