The mission of the Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics is to discover and share information and genetic materials that increase the efficiency, reliability, and profitability of crop production and utilization within Minnesota and around the world. Members of the Department promote environmentally-sound practices that preserve the natural resource base upon which agriculture depends. There are currently six principal programs within the Department: Undergraduate & Graduate Education; Crop Production and Ecology; Extension and Outreach; Plant Breeding & Genetics; Biotechnology & Physiology; and Weed Science.
