Ralph Hall Brown came to the Geography Department at the University of Minnesota in 1929 where he taught until his death in 1948. In 1963, when the Department of Geography moved to the Social Sciences tower, the Ralph Hall Brown Room was dedicated. Brown Day, the department's annual spring fete and homecoming for faculty, students, alumni and friends of the Department was established soon after.
