Established in 2002, the Minnesota Area Health Education Center (MN AHEC) is a program in the Office of Education in the Academic Health Center. The Minnesota AHEC works collaboratively with the professional schools of the Academic Health Center and four regional offices to understand and address the educational needs of the health professional workforce in the state. An earlier federally funded Area Health Education Center (AHEC) program at the University of Minnesota during the 1970s and early 1980s sought to identify and rectify issues related to workforce shortages in the health professions.

Material in the collection consists of reports and assessments and is related to both programs.
