Council on Public Engagement  [36]

The Council on Public Engagement was charged in October 2002 by Provost Chris Maziar to serve as a catalyst for creative thinking about public engagement; to recognize and encourage activities that strengthen the University's civic mission; and to provide a clearer assessment of public engagement as an indicator of institutional performance. By 2006, COPE included six standing committees and a handful of ad hoc committees. Professor Andrew Furco became Associate Vice President for Public Engagement and head of the Office for Public Engagement in 2007. He also serves as the chair of COPE.
