This is the first report of the Economic Impact of Traveler Expenditures on the Northcentral/West Region prepared by Davidson-Peterson Associates. This report covers traveler expenditures made in the Northcentral/West Region during the 12-month period from June 2005 through May 2006. The purpose of this study is to measure the economic benefits the Northcentral/West Region residents and governments derive from the dollars spent by travelers in the region.
Davidson‐Peterson Associates was hired to conduct a year‐long study which was a joint project with Explore Minnesota Tourism, the University of Minnesota Tourism Center* and the Minnesota Arrowhead, Minnesota Heartland and Southern Minnesota Tourism associations and the Metro Tourism Committee. Davidson‐Peterson Associates was commissioned to conduct a “bottom‐up” analysis of traveler expenditures in Minnesota and their impact on the economy of the state during the period June 2005 through May 2006. (See Appendix A, Sections A through C for details on the “bottom‐up” approach.)
