The Northern states Power Company plans to build a thermal power plant
near the St. Croix River at Lake st. Croix between Bayport and Stillwater, Minnesota. The plant is to be known as the
Allen S. King Generating Plant. Operation of the plant requires water for
condenser cooling which will be drawn from nearby Lake St. Croix. After use.
this water with a higher temperature will be returned to the lake at a location
downstream from the intake.
